South Downs Green Fair
Event Cancelled for 2024
Dear Friends,
We have reluctantly come to the conclusion that it will not be possible to hold the South Downs Green Fair this year, we are therefore cancelling our planned event on Sunday May 12th. This is not a decision we have made lightly or easily and are very sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment caused to you.
We have come to rely on the generosity of our neighbouring farmer to let us use a large grass field to the west of our site for public parking, in addition to the smaller field used by the 150 stallholders’ vehicles. Unfortunately, this larger field will be cultivated for crops this year instead of being left to pasture/grass – leaving us with no public car park. We have looked at alternative options but sadly none of them meet our needs, those that might are further away and will need a park and ride system in place to make them work for our visitors. It is just not possible to negotiate a new option with a different landowner and put a park and ride system in place to go ahead with the event this year. We hope to be back next year and will certainly let you know in good time. All fees and tickets purchased will be refunded.
We know that this is a much-loved community event for us, our friends and supporters and we will miss seeing everyone. However, we are planning some smaller scale fundraising and community events this year which we hope will fill the gap that the Green Fair leaves. We hope that you will be able to join us to enjoy yourself at some of these.
The first of these events is The Folk in the Forest on the 6th July, details will be on the website very soon.
Thank you for your support understanding.
